Anything's Possible

It is getting boring again now that there are no matches up soon for us. So there is nothing much to talk about now and the blog is getting boring. Anyway, Jeremy and I met up to mug yesterday and we talked about some formations possible for our team. He even considered Chien Ming the present centreback as a striker, a targetman so that we can pump balls to him, let him hold it and he will bring the midfielders into play. I think that is quite useful considering the fact that we have been losing possesion after our goalkicks or when Jun Jie pumps it outfield. The problem is our midfielders dun stand in the centre of the field to receive the loose ball and the opponent easily gets it. I think most of us dun dare to head the ball when it s coming down to earth at maybe 10km/h? Physics law states Force= Mass x Acceleration. The ball will of course exert a large amount of force onto the head. But like what Ying Lun said, we should attack the ball, exert an opposing force and that will cut down the resultant force on our head. So, we should be brave (learn from Andy) and attack the ball, not let it bounce and give it to the opponent. Chien Ming can head, can hold and shield the ball, hence it will be an option worth considering. Also we discussed about a new formation created by me, although what Reuben suggested of keeping to simple formations like 4-4-2 because we are still adapting to our team mates, i think it is also important to choose a system that win games for us. We have been experimenting with quite a range of formations and they havent quite work out for us. The only successful formation was 3-5-2 with wing backs. The formation held Cashew to a 1-0 lead at half time. The formation jeremy and i thought was good is this:

......................................LF..............RF
.......................... LAM.......................... ..RAM
...............................................CM
....................................LDM..........RDM
............................LB...............CB..............RB
...............................................GK

This formation boosts wing play tremendously which we are lacking. But it means the fullbacks should be very fit to run up and down the flanks to assist in attacks. However, it will also mean the defensive midfielders should be extremely disciplined to stay back and anchor for the attacking players. When the fullbacks attack, there will be the centreback left on the last line of defence. This defender suitably should be a sweeper, and should know when to step up to activate the offside trap and when to stay back to sweep away any through balls. The sweeper or CB should be intelligent but does not need to be extremely fit.

If the attacking full back and CB cum sweeper defensive system does not work, we can always play the safer permanent back 3 system where all back 3s stay back all the while. However, the 2 defensive midfielders should alternate their supporting role in helping the CM to set up attacks, taking on the play maker role. One defensive midfielder should always be present in position just in case any counters are lauched while our players are still far upfield. This system helps boost attacking options on flanks, in the centre of the park and a partnership of 2 strikers to support each other. The CM should be creative and can easily take on the playmaking role.

You can tag your opinions on my views or publish a post on what you think is the best for the team, or else this blog will die soon without new posts. thx.
